I was able to catch The Flex and Violent Reaction tour a couple months ago. Both UK bands were excellent as expected. I did think The Flex was better live than their counterpart, even though I prefer Violent Reaction on recordings. The Flex's debut LP "Wild Stabs in the Dark" is one of the most hyped albums of 2014 and rightfully so. This is a very good record and appears to already be out of press. Similar to their "Scum on the Run" EP, all copies were pressed on red vinyl. I believe this was out of /1000 copies. Furthermore, they reign from the same town as my boy Jake and my favorite European football club, Leeds United.
I have been very busy lately and it's been a challenge keeping up with this blog. This is a great record that I was stoked on when I first got it. I bought it on a whim because of the description and the relation to Violent Reaction. I thought I would be a trend setter, and I slowly watched every single blog in the world post this record before I got a chance to. Haha, I guess great minds think alike. As everyone else has noted, this release pressed on red vinyl out of /600 is all around red and I think it looks great. A fantastic EP by this English band that sounds alot more like 80's USHC than you'd think.
Surely to be one of the best releases of 2013, behold Southern California's STOIC VIOLENCE 8 song LP. This is an absolute shredder from start to finish of old school hardcore similar to Negative Approach. The vocals are very similar to those of 86 Mentality and Violent Future, except Stoic Violence is defintely faster than those two. You can download this entire release for free here, so there is no excuse for you not to be jamming this! This was released on Katorga Works and Video Disease records. Katorga Works has been putting out some serious heavy hitters.
This release has really awesome artwork. The faces are looking through laced up boots as if they are behind bars, interesting. My copy is on black vinyl and I don't know if any color vinyl was released for this. It will be interesting to see how well these guys are perceived. I am sure if they were from Boston or something they would be blown up as hell by now, but since they are from the West Coast it may take a little more time for people to catch on. Don't be fooled, this is an amazing release and is deserving of any and all hype that it receives.
